The Support Funding is aimed to further support Student Groups to achieve your goals for the year, taking into consideration the data and information you have so far, such as the number of memberships you have sold, the number of events/activities hosted and how often you host them, the turnout to those events, your profits & losses, and overall engagement with your Group.
With this Funding, you will have the opportunity to develop different areas that will solidify the future of your Groups as well as increase engagement with students. Please note that these development ideas need to be linked to your Group’s aims and objectives established on your Student Group Constitution.
Before writing your application, please make sure you carefully read through the Student Groups Funding Policy, located at the bottom of this article. To apply for this Funding, you will need to complete the Support Funding Application Form, and we recommend you attend a development meeting. The deadline for submitting your proposal is November 30.
You will have the opportunity to ask for funding in five different areas (Principles):
Principle 1: Core Purpose
This Principle is focused on the development of your members’ skills and experiences. This could be through training/coaching sessions, large-scale events, or competitions that showcase your Group’s aims. You can find the limitations of this Principle and how much funding is available in the Student Groups Funding Policy.
Principle 2: Sustainability
This Principle focuses on supporting costs that will ensure your Group can exist for many years to come. This funding will be the first push for your Group’s financial stability in the future. You must include a current Profits & Losses report from your Group when applying for this Principle. You can find the limitations of this Principle and how much funding is available in the Student Groups Funding Policy.
Principle 3: Inclusivity
This Principle is aimed at pushing your innovative ideas that will allow your Group to be more accessible for students in the University, cultivating engagement amongst your members. This could be through solutions that will support students interacting with your events and activities. You can find the limitations of this Principle and how much funding is available in the Student Groups Funding Policy.
Principle 4: Health, Safety & Risk Management
This Principle focuses on supporting costs that will ensure your Group operates with effective controls in place for the health and safety of your members. This could be through the purchase or maintenance of equipment that could support your events and activities. You can find the limitations of this Principle and how much funding is available in the Student Groups Funding Policy.
Principle 5: Capital Items / Large Projects
This Principle focuses on supporting the long-term development of your Group. This could be through equipment that could be used throughout the years and will support the aims and goals of your Group. You can find the limitations of this Principle and how much funding is available in the Student Groups Funding Policy.
