As a committee leader, student’s may come to you regarding their mental health. If you believe someone is struggling with their wellbeing, it is important to have a list of resources for them to use. Below you can find information on different types of support, to ensure you and your members can get the help you need.

 

On-campus support

Contact the Counselling Service at the University by contacting wellbeing@roehampton.ac.uk where they have professional and training Counsellors that can provide a range of short-term individual and group psychological interventions to support you.

You can also book directly with your Student Wellbeing Officer, using the following links:

 

GP

Speak to your GP about any concerns you may have. You can register with the on-campus GP surgery here if you haven’t already, or find other local GPs here.

 

Self-Referral 

You can self-refer to the Wandsworth Talking Therapies service, through their website or email Wandsworth.TalkingTherapies@swlstg.nhs.uk.


 For crisis/emergency support:

  • Emergency services can be contacted 24/7 by calling 999. For advice about urgent issues, you can also call 111
  • Call the Southwest London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust 24/7 mental health support line on 0800 028 8000.
  • Samaritans offer 24/7 support, just call 116 123, or email them at jo@samaritans.org
  • Papyrus Hopeline can be contacted 9am-Midnight daily on 0800 068 4141, by texting 07860039967 or emailing pat@papyrus-uk.org 
  • You can text SHOUT to 85258 for 24/7 crisis support

 

General national services and resources

  • SANEline offer national out-of-hours mental health helpline, call 0300 304 7000
  • CALM is an evening helpline, call 0800 585858
  • National Suicide Prevention Helpline UK is another evening service, by calling 0800 689 5652
  • Mind Website has a collection of self-help exercises and advice
